TRENDS

Creating a wedding or event can be one of the most stressful times of your life; if it's done incorrectly. This precious time can either be memories of pleasure or memories of hell. I'll tell you 5 easy steps to guarantee a pleasurable and a happy experience.

1) Be firm with your BUDGET; make it work for you.

Establish with your partner before hand exactly what you want to spend and stick to it. Be prepared to make compromises and be REALISTIC. ***FYI...spend the money on the RECEPTION not the wedding***. It's a recession, "to open bar or not to open bar"?

2) LOCATION. Always have a plan 'B'.

Make sure the location reflects your personalities. Make sure they are professional and equipped to handle your event. If you live in a "rainy area" and want an outdoor wedding opt for a site that offers an alternative to a 'rain day'. Remember your budget and think clearly; YES EVERYTHING WILL LOOK AMAZING BUT THERE IS LIFE AFTER THE WEDDING.

3) PLANNERS / PLANNING

If you go with a planner make sure you give detailed information, as to what your dream wedding or event is. Allow him/her to guide your desires but not to create their desires in place of yours. At the end of the day, YOU ARE STILL THE BOSS! If you are going to do it yourself, be informed. Remember your theme and visit at least 2-3 wedding shows to enhance on your dream wedding. BUT AGAIN...YES EVERYTHING WILL LOOK AMAZING - BE FIRM WITH THAT BUDGET!!

4) PHOTOS

If you go with a photographer, PORTFOLIO need i say more! Be honest with them and tell them what you have budgeted for your photography. There are always many ways to get what you want within your budget. Your photographer is there to create a lasting memory and will work with you to ensure this. If you opt to do it on your own, they are many ways to do so and still get that amazing feel, when you look at your wedding or event photos. From individual cameras, to a still camera in the room; lots of ideas to cut cost. ***FYI Photography students have portfolios too***hint hint

5) DJ

A good DJ keeps the party going. Yes your food should taste great and yes the atmosphere should be well lighten and decorated BUT if the DJ is not on point, your reception (wedding or event) will be a disaster. Visit the DJ at one of his events to see how the crowd is responding to his set. Inform the DJ of your targeted guests. From culture to age to style, it will help him to create the best set for your reception. ***FYI UNCLE PETE IS GOOD AT PLAYING RECORDS FOR CHRISTMAS DINNER BUT A LOT OF YOUR GUEST AREN'T FAMILY*** If you feel like you will offend Uncle Pete...invite him to bring his equipment and when the DJ takes a break, give Uncle Pete his 10mins of fame.

All in all RELAX, CLEAR YOUR MIND, DON'T FOLLOW THE TREND...your objective is for AN AMAZING LASTING MEMORY!!!
